Work Experience
Intern, Brady campaign to prevent gun violence
As an intern for Brady, I assist Brady’s legal and policy work. Brady’s Legal team has fought on behalf of victims of gun violence for over 30 years. The team challenges irresponsible gun dealers and manufacturers as well as policies that endanger public safety. The team’s victories have led to reforms in the gun industry and restitution for victims. As an intern, I support the legal team’s work by conducting research for ongoing and future cases and working on the legal newsletter, which is sent to donors, law firms, and news outlets. I also proofread legal documents for clarity and accuracy. Finally, I assist with research for various expert reports, for example: https://www.bradyunited.org/act/second-amendment-sanctuaries. Brady’s Policy team works to promote gun violence prevention measures in Congress and in state legislatures. As an intern, I helped track relevant legislation at the state level and conducted research to help with expert testimony for certain bills.
Bruin ambassador program
As one of 40 Bruin Ambassadors, I represent Undergraduate Admissions all around Los Angeles County. Our goal is to increase accessibility of higher education, especially in underserved areas of the city and county. I have four high schools which I present at multiple times a year- we get freshmen thinking about college, help juniors to understand the UC system, and guide seniors through the UCLA application and adjusting to college. I have presented for audiences of up to 400 people. As an ambassador, I also participate in large-scale events such as Bruin Day for admitted students and various college fairs. I also help grow Admissions’ online presence by writing blog posts and creating original social media content.
Daily Bruin- National and higher education news editor
I was the editor of national news and higher education for UCLA’s only newspaper, the only daily newspaper in the UC system, and the winner of the National Pacemaker award 2018-19 from the Associated College Press. From June 2018-January 2019 I was responsible for a team of 15 writers and pitching and editing at least one story each day. Additionally, I handled any breaking news stories as they came into the newsroom. I also communicated directly with the UC Office of the President and the UC Board of Regents.
Legal Intern, Budd Larner P.C.
During the summer of 2018, I assisted attorneys with research and organization at Budd Larner P.C. in Short Hills, New Jersey. As an intern, I conducted legal research and drafted reports for medical negligence cases. I also performed administrative duties and attended depositions and court conferences.
